1. Do I need to fill in every answer, and do all my answers have to be correct?

No. This is not a transcript. Errors and omissions are allowed. We learn more by our mistakes. As long as you put in an honest effort and try, that is all we could ask for. If a particular question or section is stumping you, you are more than welcome to spend days looking for the answer, but that is not necessary. We realize that some of the material is hard and some is easier. That is exactly how we intended it to be. If it was too easy, it would be a waste of your time and money. If it was too hard, you would have learned nothing.

2. Will I be able to get this in before my deadline?

We will do everything we can to help you meet your deadlines. We strongly encourage you to not wait too close to the deadline. We will work with you in any way we can. Please make us aware of any upcoming deadline you are working to meet. Certain courses are available in a Word Perfect or pdf. We will be able to email WordPerfect-based or pdf courses to expedite delivery.

3. What if I spend over 5 hours for a 5-CE course?

It is okay to skip questions you are having trouble finding. If you feel portions are unclear, feel free to let us know. We are always looking for ways to improve our programs. We’re happy to have your feedback.

4. How long will these courses actually take me?

Fortunately, I’ll be more honest than they were when you asked that question going into court reporting school. Like most programs, it really does depend on your skill level. Most people have reported, depending upon which course, that once they allotted time to do it, two 5 CE courses could be finished in less than one day.

5. How hard are these?

All of these courses are designed to have some easy sections and some harder sections. All the courses are challenging but are not impossible. The 10 CE courses contain more challenging material in order to qualify for 10 CEs.

6. Do I need to do something after I purchase the course?

Yes. After you receive your course, you must complete the whole program, or as much of it as you are able to. Then you must return the selected pages to Lexical CE. After receiving your finished material, Lexical will return that graded portion, the answers to the rest of the course, and a certificate of completion. Depending upon which organization you are seeking credit from, you may need to send in specific paperwork and a copy of your certificate of completion to your organization. We’ll be able to give you more instruction on a case-by-case basis.

7. Do you need to receive payment before sending me the course?

Yes. We are no longer able to ship your course without payment first. If you plan to pay by check, please allow sufficient time for the delivery of your check when planning your timeline. We accept all major credit cards. You can fill out our online order form and pay by credit card, and your course will ususally be shipped the same day.

8. How much does this cost?

Each 5 CE course costs $95. Each 10 CE course costs $190. We do not charge extra for shipping unless you request overnight delivery. Please note that in order to guarantee your paperwork is graded by the year-end deadline, there is a $20 surcharge per course if you submit your coursework after December 18 and need it returned to you before the end of the year in time to submit it for credit.

9. What if I have a question while I’m taking the course?

That is what we’re here for. Feel free to e-mail us at info@LexicalCE.com for the quickest response. Our contact information is provided as a link on the home page.

10. I just paid for the course online. Where is it?

We will send you an e-mail confirming receipt. In almost all cases, your course will ship within 24 hours of your purchasing it. Depending upon where you live, you will receive it between one to four days after shipping. We can e-mail our WordPerfect-based courses (all courses except the two crossword courses) or pdf courses upon request. Lexical is currently looking into technology that will enable you to take most of the courses electronically. We will always have it available in hardcopy form.

11. What is a CE versus a CEU?

10 CEs equals 1 CEU. 5 CEs equals .5 CEUs. CEUs are Units; 1 CEU is equal to 10 CEs, or 10 hours. .1 CEU equals 1 CE, or 1 hour. If you belong to an organization that requires 3 Units, or 3 CEUs, in a three-year period, three 10-CE courses will fulfill your obligation.
